Unfortunately, many insurance providers have yet to realize the cost-saving benefits of acupuncture over many more costly methods of treatment. However, if you have HealthPartners insurance, an open claim with your car insurance, or Worker��s Compensation, it is worthwhile to see if your acupuncture treatments can be covered.
1. Health Partners:Most members can self-refer for twelve acupuncture visits in a year, although coverage is generally confined to musculo-skeletal problems such as back or joint pain, headaches, menstrual or menopausal problems, and nausea. Please call HP Member Services beforehand to verify your acupuncture benefits.
2. Car Insurance: If your claim is open and you are still seeking and receiving medical treatment related to your accident, there is a good chance that your car insurance company will cover your acupuncture treatments. Please give your claim information to your acupuncture provider to have your claim verified.
3. Workers' Compensation: Any request for acupuncture treatments through Worker��s Comp. benefits must be specifically authorized by your case worker or Workers' Comp. Administration company. Please provide this information at the time the first appointment is made.
